Enemies easier to kill them than interrogate?

The first article shows how liberal elites develop a distaste for torture...

"The disparity between today’s coverage of the torture of suspected Islamic militants and yesterday’s non-coverage of the torture of suspected Irish republicans is not only striking because it reveals a double standard in British liberal angst. More fundamentally, it shines a light on the politics of torture and the question of when and why torture becomes a problem for a certain section of society."

The second article documents how the Obama administration has authorized targeted killings more frequently than the George W. Bush administration did.

So I guess the idea here is that if you kill them, you don't have to deal with the messy bits about extracting potentially vital information.
