MORE THAN A GAME is a documentary about a high school basketball coach, Dru Joyce II, and the basketball players he coaches, who grow in character as they become national champions. The “fab five” are LeBron James (who became a star player for the NBA), Sian Cotton, Coach Dru’s own son Dru III, Willie McGee, and Romeo Travis.
As juniors, they go to the national championship but lose because they are overconfident and too preoccupied with their newfound fame. Through the journey together, they learn to include an outsider and to choose supporting each other over personal fame. In their next year in 2003, they become the national champions.
