Back Issues: S'mores of Temptation
A winsome new video currently making the rounds on YouTube reënacts a classic psychological experiment from the late sixties. In Walter Mischel’s original marshmallow test, a series of children were given a marshmallow or another sweet and then offered a choice: they could either eat the marshmallow now, or wait a while and then receive a second marshmallow.
The purpose of the experiment was to study a child’s ability to delay gratification and to examine whether this ability could predict adult behavior.
