from the weeklystandard:
Sarah Palin is a smart missile aimed at the heart of the left.
"From the instant of Palin's designation on Friday, August 29, the American left went into a collective mass seizure from which it shows no sign of emerging. "
"The most important thing to know about the left today is that it is centered on social issues."
"The simple fact of her being a pro-life married mother of five with a thriving political career was--before anything else about her was known--enough for the left and its outliers to target her for destruction."
Blurbat:
Two women I chatted with in the last few days hate Gov. Palin.
One said that Gov. Palin was picked to appeal to people with IQs under 100 (she said this assuming I agreed with her). When she found out I like Palin, she was embaressed and went on about Palin's lack of experience. The next day I brought up the IQ issue again, she mumbled something about the religious right and said she'd rather not talk about Gov. Palin because she was so upset thiniking about her.
The other woman said she hated her because she was a threat. They were gonna win the election and Palin threatened that. Plus she had no experience, plus Palin was being a bad mother, plus she was in the religious right. This woman said I probably hate Obama/Biden like she hated Palin. I said no. You see I come from the left and understand its religious underpinnings. Leftism is a religion as certainly as any other. It has its orthodoxy. It has its heretics. It has its Inquisition. A huge thing Leftism doesn't have is release from the scapegoat mechanism that Judaism and Christianity have.
It's all about the narrative. For my two women friends above. It isn't about Palin and meritocracy. It's about the fact that she's an uncloaked enemy.
