Bruce Willis plays Mosley as a tired boozehound of a cop just trying to put one foot in front of the other until he reaches the retirement that seems to be just around the corner. He's long lost interest in the job (or anything else for that matter) and finds his solace from whatever bottle is in front of him.
Into his lap falls a low level nuisance of an assignment. He is to transport Eddie Bunker (Mos Def), a talkative prisoner, to the courthouse 16 blocks away so he might testify before a grand jury. What he doesn't know is that a battalion of cops, including Mosely's partner of 20 years (David Morse), are lying in wait to stop Bunker from exposing them as murderous thugs.
