Officials say the patas monkeys could become an endangered species in their native Africa because they are hunted for food. In Puerto Rico, however, the monkeys are seen as pests because they have destroyed millions of dollars in crops. The monkeys are believed to have escaped from an abandoned monkey-research facility.
