movie blurb....kite runner

christiancritic gives PG-13 Kite Runner 4 stars:
Young Amir (Zekiria Ebrahimi) and his best friend Hassan (Ahmad Khan Mahmoodzada) spend most of their days preparing for the city's esteemed kite-running competition.
Hassan, in particular, is uncanny in his ability to run down kites whose strings have been cut by more skilled flyers. When Amir witnesses the brutal attack and rape of his friend their relationship changes. Amir, filled with shame and guilt over his cowardly inaction, can no longer bear to be in Hassan's presence.
When the film jumps ahead some twenty years, the story moves to America where Amir (Khalid Abdlla) and his father (Homayon Ershadi) emigrated to escape the invading Russian army. Now married, Amir receives a phone call from his old childhood friend asking him to return to Afghanistan by promising that there is a way "to make things good again."
