Starting today it will be illegal for the major grocery stores in San Francisco to distribute plastic bags. Read the whole article for pros and a few cons. I'm not sure. It seems like paper bags will use a lot of resources especially if they double bag as reported by one shopper. I am impressed that there is a 1000 mile wide patch of plastic floating in the Pacific Ocean. Time will tell whether this is a good idea or not.
