Yet here we are, 3 1/2 decades later, and the strange German band - did I mention its members wore suits? - has so completely shaped and moulded the modern musical world that we've almost forgotten how strange and other-worldly it once was.
A good time, then, for the release of remastered versions of its classic albums, along with a box set called The Catalogue.
