I was asked to write a letter of recommendation today for a friend of mine trying to get into pharmacy school. It is hard to write letters that are truthful in a specific sort of way and yet also memorable so that admissions people who read hundreds of letters will remember yours. The thing that I wrote about my friend is that she withstood a life crisis without damaging her character. My friend had a strong disagreement with a number of powerful men. She did not run away but instead met with them and talked with them while maintaining a gracious, and calm spirit. Even though she was anxious and felt outnumbered she responded in a very mature way. I too disagree with her position but I think very highly of her for her courage and character.
