From Clearplay: "In the tradition of other flim-flam films such as 'Catch Me If You Can' and 'Shattered Glass', half the fun and suspense in The Hoax comes from seeing whether or not Irving can pull off his hoax. Because of that aspect of the subject matter, ClearPlay users may want to limit the audience to mature teens. But the storytelling, direction and recreation of early-‘70s detail are fantastic. It’s not often that I clap at the end of a movie. In my living room. By myself. I did it for The Hoax."
